The eagle rays are increasing - and so are the guests! We also go to a "new" dive spot and a Divemaster candidate starts his course!
The picture shows the golf course near my apartment...
Monday (Jan. 9, 2023) - the first time to the dive site "Cerebros"! The name has a connection to the brain (cerebral) as it is a large block of coral, traversed by deep indentations and canyons, so from above it just looks like a brain - with a little imagination. The other dive sites are a maximum of 10 minutes boat ride away, this one is a good double to the south. Because of its shape, it is a really beautiful dive site where there is a lot to discover - moraines, crabs, lobsters and 1000 fish! All divers were really excited! For the 2nd dive we went to Aquarius again - and this time we found some shrimp! (cleaner shrimp and mantis shrimp) - nice to discover something new on every dive, even if you've been there 20 times! Oh, exactly - an eagle ray stopped by too! Today we were also accompanied by a Divemaster student from Scotland who will do his course with us for the next 4 weeks...
Tuesday - my day off!
Wednesday to Sunday as a summary: the most important thing was that I spoke to the "Head of Operations" and our new "CD" (Course Director); I'll go in the direction of the CD, I'm still missing 3 harnesses. So first I have to finish my MSDT. MSDT: Master Scuba Diver Trainer: states that I can teach at least 5 specialties. What I'm still missing for the official award: you have to have issued 25 certificates, whereby 5 DSD (which are an "experience program" and not certificates) are counted for a diving course. At the moment I have 22 certificates issued, so I should have official confirmation by the end of February. The first step after that is the so-called IDC Staff Instructor. This allows me to train diving instructor assistants - an optional intermediate step from divemaster to diving instructor. And I'm allowed to work on instructor training courses, evaluate candidates and give feedback. The following steps (MI - Master Instructor and CD) then have more prerequisites, so a requirement is that one has been a diving instructor for at least 2 years. In any case, I will still make my IDC-S here, because then I only have to pay the material costs. But it is also clear that I will have to change my job in the next 2 years. Another requirement is to have worked in different situations - e.g. in a dive school, in a dive resort and on a dive center, and who knows where I will work next - in the Maldives, Seychelles or on a cruise ship?
